2023 TORONTO BLUE JAYS JERSEY NUMBER BLANKET

A handmade jersey number blanket inspired by the 2023 Toronto Blue Jays season, featuring one player for each position, including all nine on-field positions, a starting pitcher, a reliever, and a closer. Each square is colour-matched to a jersey variation (grey, light blue, royal blue, white, and Canada Day red) and arranged in a 3x4 grid.

This is one of my favourite and most personal projects I’ve created. It took about ten months to complete, and honestly a big part of that was me going back and forth trying to figure out exactly what I wanted it to be. Once I locked in the design, it became about staying consistent and actually seeing it through.

CHALLENGES:

One of the biggest challenges was deciding what I wanted the final blanket to look like. With so many options for players, colours, and layout, it took time to narrow everything down into something that felt both meaningful and visually cohesive.
I also got a RSI (repetitive strain injury) while working which slowed down my progress

SOLUTIONS:

I worked through this by sketching and testing different ideas and refining the layout as I considered how each player and colour would look on the blanket, especially before committing to the final design.
I gave myself about a month off of work and ensured I paced myself when working to avoid further injury
