KK AND GEORGE PAINTING
This is an acrylic painting of Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer, with black and white, baseball card-style images of other Toronto Blue Jays players layered into the background. I wanted to focus on two key players while still including the rest of the team, using colour vs. black and white to create contrast and draw attention.
It’s meant to capture both the individuality of the players and the overall team identity (as I included the baseball cards of the rest of the team), and displaying it in a way that is organized but still personal to fans.
CHALLENGES:
One of the main challenges came during the painting process when the red paint I planned for George Springer’s jersey ended up being too transparent to get an even colour which affected the entire look and structure of the piece.
SOLUTIONS:
Instead of reworking the whole design, I went back to photoshop, played around with different colours and adjusted it to a purple tone, which fixed the issue and actually ended up looking more cohesive next to the blue jersey.
